Fashion DIY: How To Make A Book Necklace | Perfect For Us Bookworms!

Hello! Lovelies

It's a book, It's a necklace No! It's a Book Necklace. If you search on Pinterest or Etsy you will find pages of these little hand bound books on a chain. I've always thought they were a cute idea. You can even find them pre-made in the jewelry section of your local craft store. So a couple days ago I thought I'd try and make my own. And well lets just say I will not anytime soon become a book binder. It was much harder than I had thought. You'll need a bit of patience and practice.

I made my book on the bigger size but you can adjust the measurements to whatever size you like. This size is perfect to write little sayings or inspirational words to carry around  through out your day.

What you'll need:

Leather (real or faux)
Leather Lace (real or faux)
Thread
Scrapbooking Paper
Large doll needle
Jump Ring
Scissors
Hot Glue Gun

Optional:
Pencil & Ruler

Start off by cutting 10  2 x 1 1/2 inch pieces of paper. And fold them in half. Once you've folded them all in half place together. Thread a large needle and begin to bind your pages. Start by poking a hole towards the top middle fold and then on the bottom middle fold. You'll want to go back and forth through the holes until the pages are secure. (Note) I am not a pro at book binding so I am sure this is not the correct way but it will work for this DIY. Once you've done that tie a knot at the end.

Then you will need to cut your leather into a 2 x 2 1/2 inch piece. Once you've done that glue down the back two pages with hot glue. After that take your needle you bound the pages with and poke a hole through the top corner, you will then take a jump ring and bend it through the hole. This will hold your chain or leather cord. After you've completed all these steps you can cut a small piece of the leather lace and wrap around the book to keep it safe and secure. This is optional.  Then place on a chain or leather cord.

Make this for yourself or someone you love. Maybe one for you and your best friend, You could write little secret notes on the pages and everything.

I hope you enjoyed this DIY and if you did make one I'd love to see it,

Valentines Day Weekend: Ault Sweetheart Lantern Festival

Hello! Lovelies

Valentines Day, a day done over the top by those who are in Love and a day dreaded by those who are not. I don't think I will ever understand the hype of the day. But this year I did attended a Valentine event as a single gal and had one of the best experinces ever. It was incredible.

For years I have wanted to attend the festival of Loi Krathong in Thailand. But it is one of those bucket list items, So when I seen  Ault would be having there own Lantern festival I couldn't wait to go.

In the small farming community of Ault, Colorado came together 600+ people to celebrate the occasion of Valentines Day. Not only was it couples but families as well celebrating the love they have for one another. The evening started just after twilight with people seated around two large bonfires drinking hot cocoa and eating pink frosted cookies. Then at a little after 7pm everyone began to light their lanterns.

I had dreamed for so long of releasing a Sky lantern so when It came time I was very excited. Little did I know it wasn't as easy as I thought it would've been. You need a very good lighter, they did not want to light for anything. And they don't float instantly like I had imaged in my head. You must hold them a good 10 minutes to let them heat up. If not they will float up maybe a foot and then crash back down. So you need to make sure they will float before you let them go. Or you could light the lovebirds sitting in front of you on fire and that just might ruin Valentines Day for EVERYBODY.

Lucky nobody was harmed.

This event was amazing. I can't believe more people don't do these kinds of things. Seeing the 300 Lanterns light up the dark evening sky was an image I will cherish for a very long time. I would really like to Thank Brenda, The Woman who put this whole event together. I can't wait for next year. All I hope for next year is more Lanterns.

If you ever get the chance to visit a Lantern festival I highly recommend it.

I hope you enjoyed your Valentines Day as much as I did.

Love,
Emily

Fashion: How to Style A Baseball Cap For Game Day | 2015 MLB Baseball

Hello! Lovelies

Major League Baseball is just around the corner, I can almost smell the roasted peanuts.

When it comes to sports my favorite thing is the team colors and putting outfits together to watch the games. I am not a huge sports gal, Was never really into sports growing up playing wise but I've always enjoyed sitting down with a good snack to support a local team or my beloved Red Devils. Last year I lucky enough to attended a Manchester United Football match and half the fun was putting together what I'd wear to show my team pride.

Back to Baseball...

What is more American than a good ol' fashion ball game?

The Colorado Rockies are my ball team. I was born and raised in Colorado so there can't be any other team I would root for. Plus who doesn't love Purple?!

If your either planning on attending an MLB game this your or if the plan is to watch at home. This outfit will work for you either way. When it comes to style & sports I like to be cute but comfortable. Ladies there is no need to wear heels to the ball park. You will have a much nicer time without them.

Swing Batter Batter
My perfect game day outfit would consist of the follow:

Team Cap

Cozy T-shirt

Jeans

Sunglasses

and Converse

This outfit can be worked out in any team colors. Along with this I'd add color coordinated nail polish. And a cute little clutch. I believe you can still take handbags up to a specific size. MLB is yet to enforce a "Clear Bag" policy like the NFL.

Make it simple. Don't worry to much about what you are wearing, wear something that is comfortable and that you wouldn't mind having beer spilled on by a rowdy fan or ball park food by yourself.

Go check out Fanatics.com for all your team merch needs and see there great selection of MLB hats

What MLB team will you be supporting this year?

 Love,
Emily

Hello! Lovelies

What is more Valentines Day appropriate than, Beautiful red lips? So since Valentines Day is this weekend I thought Id share my favorite go to red lipstick and a little review.

Kat Von D's "Underage Red" is the perfect matte fire engine red.

I tried this around the first of November last year and have been hooked ever since. It's been my most worn lip product ever, I don't know why I didn't try it sooner.

This lipstick in long wearing and doesn't bleed at all. There is no reason to use a lip liner, It looks perfect on it's own. I'll put this on in the morning eat lunch and my lipstick still looks great. I do top it off once or twice throughout the day for a bold look. But if you only put it on once you will still have some on that evening, even after eating and drinking.

So if you are looking for the best red lipstick to wear this Saturday out for a dinner date either with your partner, or girlfriends this is perfect. I myself am single and will be spending my time with my family at a local festival but I still will be rocking this bold & beautiful red lip.

Pros:
Long Lasting
Doesn't bleed
Wears well even after eating and drinking

Foodie Friday: No Bake Mascarpone Cheesecake Cups with Chocolate Ganache & Raspberries | A Valentines Day Treat!

Hello!

Cheesecake is one of the best desserts of all time. They taste delicious and you can do so many different flavors. The only problem is they take awhile to make and some people are afraid of making them due to fear of them falling in the middle. So for those that don't have the time or patience this is the perfect recipe for you. This recipe you don't even have to bake. You just whip it up place it in a cute mason jar or cup and let cool in the fridge. Then enjoy!

This would be the perfect dessert to share with your loved ones this Valentines Day.

Recipe:  Prep Time: 30 minutes  Serves: 5

Cheesecake:

1 8oz. Cream Cheese
1 8oz. Mascarpone Cheese
1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar + Two Tablespoons
1 Tablespoon Honey
1/2-1 Cup Crushed Graham Crackers

Milk Chocolate Ganache:

1 4oz.Lindt Milk Chocolate Bar (Or your favorite Chocolate)
1/2 Cup Whipping Cream

Topping: (Optional)
Raspberries & Chocolate Shavings/Curls

In a large bowl or stand mixer, Beat cream cheese & mascarpone. Mix to combine. Then mix in powdered sugar. Once you've thoroughly combined the cheese and sugar, and you see no lumps add your honey.

Chocolate Ganache:  Break up chocolate in a bowl and set aside. In a small sauce pan bring the cream to a low simmer. Once it's come to a simmer take off stove and pour over Chocolate and mix until creamy smooth. Let cool down before pouring on Cream Cheese mixture.

In a jar or cup, Place a layer of crushed graham crackers. Then a layer of cheese. Repeat 2 more times: Graham crackers, and cheese. Once your ganache has cooled down pour on-top. And decorate with raspberries & chocolate curls. Place in fridge 2-3 hours to chill.

I really hope you enjoy this recipe and you have a wonderful Valentines Day with your loved ones.

Love,

 Emily
